My background is in film and music. However illness, hepatitis C, stopped me from working for a while. I had hepatitis C for a total of 25 years. I only knew about it for 14 years and happily I was cured in 2013.
Art on a Postcard started life as a secret postcard auction to raise money for The Hepatitis C Trust in 2014. Our first auction was a huge success and featured artists such as Damien Hirst, Sam Taylor Johnson, Marc Quinn, Gilbert and George, Harland Miller and Cecily Brown. Since then we've raised over £250K for The Hepatitis C Trust and the initial auction has spawned lots of projects.
We believe that Hepatitis C can be eliminated as a major health concern by 2030 and all funds raised by us support The Hepatitis C in their campaigns to achieve this goal. In 2015 Scotland signed up to our program of elimination. In 2016 The Hepatitis C Trust’s campaigning led to not only Westminster and the World Health Assembly agreeing to a program of elimination.
The Hepatitis C Trust is the national UK charity for hepatitis C. It was founded and is now led and run by people with personal experience of hepatitis C and almost all of its Board, staff and volunteers either have hepatitis C or have had it and cleared it after treatment.
